More incompetence for our own Somalia on the Gulf
For a state that is capable of getting organzied enough to throw a drunken orgy of a boozefest months after Katrina. Yet when it comes to the execution of one of the States primary purposes (elections) LA and Blanco can't quite seem to stop screwing the pooch and do their jobs.
The mre cynical in the blogosphere suspect the real reason for Blanco's determination to postpone elections is that she hasn't got enough of the detritus of NOLA back in town to be bused like faithful little zombies to the polling stations.
Nola.com: NewsFlash - Blanco postpones New Orleans elections: "BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Gov. Kathleen Blanco postponed the New Orleans mayoral election indefinitely on Monday, setting up a legal battle with voters who filed a lawsuit seeking to ensure the election is held as scheduled in February.

Blanco's executive order cites the recommendation of Secretary of State Al Ater, the state's top elections officials, who has said the city is incapable of holding elections in February because Hurricane Katrina caused so much damage to polling sites and voting machines.

The postponement would affect the mayor race as well as scheduled elections for sheriff and city council seats.

A group of New Orleans voters last week filed suit against the governor, seeking to force her to hold the election as scheduled. A hearing in that case has not been set.

Qualifying for the elections was set to begin Wednesday."
